Making Money Online with
Affiliate Programs
Affiliate marketing is a fantastic way to make extra money. With just a little bit
of research and work, you can create a website that pulls in hundreds of dollars a
month. If you really work hard you can make enough to quit your job and work on
your website full-time. There are many people who have been earning a good living
from affiliate programs for years.
If you don't know how affiliate programs work, don't worry. Most people have no idea
that this revenue stream even exists. But that's a good thing. Since a large segment of
the population still doesn't know about or understand affiliate programs, you can
get a head start.
Here are the basics on how you can earn money with affiliate programs:
- You create a website about a topic that interests you. (Don't worry about the technical part yet, I'll explain more below. Besides, it isn't as hard to do as you think.)
- Find online merchants that sell products that complement your topic. This is pretty easy because these days most merchants already have affiliate programs, including Amazon, Ebay, Geico Insurance, Lending Tree, 1-800-Flowers, and just about anything else you can imagine. When you find a merchant you like, sign up for their program.
- Throughout your website, you add links to the merchants websites (they explain how when you sign up).
- When someone visits your site and clicks on one of the merchant links, you get a referral. Each merchant has their own commission
plan. In order to be paid a commission from Amazon, a consumer must click on
your link and then make a purchase from their website.
Other merchants, such as Lending Tree, simply require the consumer to click on the link.
